For parents in Northwest Arkansas, the 2021 school year is beginning to wind down. And a summer break is always a plus, with time spent with kids and family, possibly with new adventures and road trips on the horizon. Along with all that time, there’s also the fun of planning new activities to help keep everyone entertained during this time of relaxation before the school year starts back up in the Fall. While you’re driving the younger members of your family around Fayetteville and the NWA area, possibly in a third-row vehicle like the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid, we here at Lewis Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM wanted to pass along a few ideas for places you and your crew can visit and spend your summer months having family fun!
Amazeum - https://www.amazeum.org/
The Scott Family Amazeum, located in Bentonville, AR, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit children’s museum housing approximately 50,000 square feet of exhibit and learning spaces. They are a fantastic option for families in Northwest Arkansas to experience curiosity and discovery through hands-on activities and interactive exhibits. They’re a short drive up I-49 from the Fayetteville and Springdale area, and a great place to take the kids and friends for indoor entertainment, while continuing some education of the kiddo’s during the hot summer months. You can load up all the family, and even throw some outdoor gear in the back of your 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and make a whole day of it with a picnic lunch at any of their outdoor areas surrounding the Amazeum.
Gulley Park - https://www.fayetteville-ar.gov/3551/Gulley-Park
Fayetteville, AR is home to so many amazing parks and outdoor activities, and one of the more popular ones in town is Gulley Park, located between Township Road and Old Wire Road. It sits on 27 acres, full of trees, open fields, a pond, and Niokaska Creek. You can be sure to bring the kids’ water shoes and other water play gear when you’re packing up your New Jeep Wrangler, and utilize the convenience of that easy to clean cargo space. There’s also a paved and lighted 1.5 mile trail that circles the park, if biking or walking with the stroller is more fun for everyone. Each Summer, there’s also a series of free outdoor concerts for checking out our family-friendly regional talent, so be sure to bring the lawn chairs and blankets!
Coler Trail - https://www.peelcompton.org/coler-mountain-bike-preserve/
One of the newest outdoor options to explore in Bentonville, AR is the Coler Mountain Bike Preserve. This bike park and trail system offers over 17 miles of progressive built trail, designed for all skill levels (including kids). This recreation destination is only a five minute bike ride from downtown Bentonville, so you have the option to park your New 2021 Jeep Renegade in a public downtown parking area and ride in to the park, or utilize the parking areas closer to the trails. In the middle of the trail system is Airship at The Homestead, a micro-cafe and beverage bar with refreshments and handcrafted drinks like kombucha and Airship coffee (in case mom and dad need a pick-me-up after wrangling kids on the trail all afternoon.)
Mount Kessler - https://www.fayetteville-ar.gov/1975/Kessler-Mountain-Trails
For the hiking enthusiast family in Fayetteville (or simply the parents that want to wear their older kids out during the day so they’ll sleep come bedtime), there’s also a handful of trails in town, including the trails on Mount Kessler. The City of Fayetteville purchased the 387-acre forest and Kessler Mountain for the purpose of public outdoor recreational use. And the trails in place are fantastic places to get in touch with nature and enjoy the Natural State, and maybe get your kids asking for a little less screen time and a little more time outdoors. Plus, with convenient parking for your New Chrysler Pacifica van at the base of the trails, this is just one of many outdoor areas that Fayetteville has to offer.
