Walmart has been a successful global business for decades, and was established in the 1950’s by Sam and Helen Walton. They opened Walton’s 5&10 in downtown Bentonville, AR, and began to build their company to the well-known brand it is today. Wal-Mart’s home office is in this area as well, but if you’d like to see the beginnings of this company, the Walmart Museum is in operation in that same 5&10 opened over 70 years ago.
Lunch - Crepes Paulette & Bentonville Square
Crepes Paulette started out as a food truck on the Bentonville Square in 2010 and quickly became a staple for visitors and residents of the city. Founded by a Bentonville native and her French husband, they expanded to a brick and mortar restaurant in 2016. They feature a whole range of crepes, from the sweet to the savory offerings like La Thai, they’ll have anything you need to satisfy your appetite.
Outside / Coffee - Coler Trails and Coffee Shop
If you’re a fan of the outdoors, which is easy to do with the beautiful scenery here in NWA, the Coler Mountain Bike Preserve and Trails is a great destination to soak up some Vitamin D and fresh air. There’s over 17 miles of trail for every skill level, while still only being a five-minute bike ride from downtown Bentonville. In the center of the Bike Preserve is Airship at the Homestead, a coffee and drink bar featuring hand-crafted beverages, seasonal foods, and a beer garden. You can get your exercise in as well as refuel to keep riding through the rest of the afternoon.
Art / Dinner- 21c Museum & The Hive
To soak in some of the art scene that Bentonville is becoming nationally known for, be sure to head to 21c, a boutique hotel and contemporary art museum rolled into one. You’ll be greeted with their iconic Green Penguins, as well as the rest of the 12,000 square feet of exhibition space with art around every corner. Stop into The Hive for dinner, a fantastic and beautiful restaurant located in the hotel with a menu that features, in their words, “refined country cuisine” like their House-made Campanelle or the Hive Burger made with pimento cheese and tomato jam.
