When you bring your vehicle in, you may wonder how we get to the values that we’re offering.  While there are online pricing tools available to estimate a vehicle’s value, that’s all it’s going to be, an estimate.  The truth is that our trained appraiser here at Lewis Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM in Fayetteville determines the offered value on a number of factors including the vehicle history report, condition, market values (both here in Northwest Arkansas as well as our numerous other dealer contacts in areas like Dallas, Kansas City, and Nashville).  There have even been times that we’ve had other customers in the dealership who specifically ask for the chance to buy someone else’s trade-in before we’ve made an offer!  For example, we had a customer’s Jeep Wrangler Rubicon recently that was in a parking spot waiting for a trade appraisal, and another customer walked by and mentioned they were looking for that exact vehicle.  That meant that we were immediately able to offer them a bit more than the amount we had originally thought, no question.

Here’s a few areas on the vehicle our vehicle appraiser will be checking:

Vehicle Mileage - Here at Lewis Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM, we don’t have a set mileage on vehicles that we do or don’t accept.  We always need vehicles to add to our inventory, especially now.  We’ll still check the mileage to determine the condition of your car, truck, or SUV and its appraised value.

Vehicle History Report - Our appraiser is specifically looking for wrecks, major repairs, and/or flood damage here, but other factors to include would be the number of previous owners, if the vehicle has ever been purchased at an auction, etc.  

Registration - Legally, in order to sell or trade a vehicle in, you will need to have current tags and registration.

Condition - Once again, we’re in such need of vehicles, any cosmetic concerns aren’t a huge factor in our inspection process.  Some of the factors our appraiser will check will be tire tread depth, whether there’s cracks or chips in the windshield or windows, paint and condition of the body of the car, and any dents, scratches, or dings.  On the inside, they’ll check for the condition of the upholstery or leather, look for dirt, scratches or other damage, and check any buttons or electronics (radio, power windows, DVD player, Navigation system, etc…) to make sure they’re functional.  Under the hood, he’ll listen to the engine, check fluid levels, look on the dash for any warning lights, etc.

Test Drive - while you’re test driving your potential next vehicle (like the 2022 Jeep Gladiator), he’ll be driving yours to check how the engine’s acceleration and other factors function, as well as the tire alignment, brakes, and overall handling of your car.
