Cinco de Mayo NWA.jpg

The Northwest Arkansas area is a fantastic place to track down some amazing restaurant options.  One type of food that is a crowd pleaser, and also super easy to find in this area, is a Tex-Mex or Mexican restaurant, with great options for tacos, enchiladas, nachos, and more.  One food that is credited to have been introduced by the state of Arkansas, which you may not have known, is cheese dip.  You can find a type of queso or cheese dip at almost every Mexican restaurant country wide, now, and you can thank Nick Rogers (a lawyer and filmmaker from Little Rock, AR) for reportedly introducing cheese dip in 1935 at the local restaurant Mexico Chiquito.  To celebrate today’s commemoration of Cinco De Mayo around the state and country, we here at Lewis Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM in Fayetteville wanted to pass along some of the local restaurants best known for their cheese dip in the area.  Nothing like celebrating two different bits of history with one delicious food!

The Flying Burrito Company - Located almost right across the street from our Fayetteville, AR dealership locations, the Flying Burrito is a native NWA restaurant that’s been serving up in-house prepared Tex-Mex food in Fayetteville for over 25 years.  Along with the almost endless combinations of ingredients you can include in your made-to-order burrito, taco, salad, or quesadilla, are the two delicious queso options you can order on your entree, or on the side.  So, when you’re coming to see our Lewis Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM inventory in Fayetteville, maybe to test drive the 2022 Jeep Wrangler 4xe Hybrid SUV, or just to get an oil change at our CDJR Service Department, be sure to stop here and try a little of everything!

Tacos 4 Life - This restaurant chain that features ‘Craft Tacos for a Cause’ has multiple NWA locations located in Fayetteville, Springdale, Rogers, as well as throughout the state of Arkansas and neighboring states.  Not only do they have delicious tacos and cheese dip, but you also get to take part in fighting global hunger, since a portion of the cost of every meal purchased is donated to a non-profit partner that sends meal packs to hungry kids in over 70 different countries.

Con Quesos - It would be hard to put together a list of great queso restaurants without including one with the dish directly in the name.  This local fusion restaurant, created and owned by a University of Arkansas alumni, with locations in Fayetteville, AR and Springdale, AR, is continuing the Arkansas tradition of cheese dip with their own specialty blends like the Cozumel (white queso with lime zest and salsa verde), the Seoul Food (a spicy dip with Korean chilis), and even one with Sweet Potato Puree.

Burrito Loco - Another local favorite that's made a name for itself as a ‘hole in the wall’ legend in South Fayetteville, Burrito Loco is already popular for their Taco Tuesday specials.  They were established in 2011 as a grocery store, and quickly converted to serving authentic Mexican food in a casual atmosphere that stays packed by the locals.  If you’re looking for a place that’s having Cinco de Mayo specials all day, this is the restaurant for you.  You can find various specials throughout the day, as well as a live Mariachi band starting at 7:30 that night.

Any local restaurants you were hoping to see on this list?  Our Lewis Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM staff is always looking for new favorite local restaurants to frequent.  Drop us a line at (888)910-6362 and let us know where you plan on celebrating, and we’ll add it to our ever-growing list of fantastic NWA restaurants to try!
